Lake Bluff PTO Pumpkin Chase
The Lake Bluff PTO Pumpkin Chase is a community running event held in Lake Bluff, Illinois. The event features two distinct distances for participants:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 5K Run takes place on a USATF-certified course that starts and ends near Lake Bluff Middle School. The route passes through residential areas with historic homes and tree-lined streets in East Lake Bluff, leading toward the bluff with views of Lake Michigan. The 1 Mile Fun Run follows the main race and is specifically popular among students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The event utilizes a disposable bib chip timing system for accurate results. Awards are presented in several categories, including overall winners and multiple age groups ranging from 14 and under to 85 and older. Participants have access to post-race refreshments and snacks.
The start and finish area is located at 31 E. Sheridan Place, approximately one-quarter mile from the Lake Bluff Metra Train station. Parking is available at the train station and on designated streets such as Witchwood Avenue and Vincent Court. Due to course safety, dogs and bicycles are not permitted, though service animals and hand cycles are allowed.
Organizers suggest a minimum pace of 15 minutes per mile to ensure full course support and road closures. Registrations completed by early October include a guaranteed event T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
