The Serra Fina is a mountain chain with altitudes above 2,000 meters; its highest point, Pedra da Mina, reaches 2,798 meters. The event is governed by the principle of individual self-sufficiency: each runner is responsible for their own food, hydration, clothing and safety during the route and must be prepared to manage weather and other mountain adversities without organizational support. The organization states that participants should be aware of the terrain and the demands of mountain environments and develop autonomy to handle physical and mental issues, small injuries and severe weather.
Since 2017 the project and organization have been managed by Tambo. The course and operational details, including mandatory equipment and time cutoffs, are specified in the event’s regulation documents. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
