LA Cancer Challenge 5K Walk/Run
The LA Cancer Challenge is the 29th annual 5K walk/run held on the campus of UCLA, listed for Sunday, October 25, 2026. The event benefits the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research and is held in conjunction with Halloween-themed activities aimed at families and community participants.
The event program includes a Fit Family Expo with health and fitness vendors, music, entertainment, refreshments, and a Candyland Kids Zone. The weekend also features a kids costume parade, an adult costume contest, awards, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Packet pick-up is offered the day before the event at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Santa Monica.
Registration is available for team captains, individuals and youth, with both in-person and virtual options noted. Each participant pays a registration fee and may fundraise; incentive levels for registered participants are cumulative based on funds raised. Since 1998 the LA Cancer Challenge has raised more than $12.1 million for pancreatic cancer research; current fundraising progress is shown toward an event goal.
Practical details include parking available in Lot 4 with self-service pay stations and variable hourly and daily rates. The course begins in Wilson Plaza and finishes outside Annenberg Stadium, passing campus landmarks such as the Bruin Bear and the John Wooden Statue. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are part of the event structure, and sponsors support patient services and cancer research funding.
