KTC Triathlon 2026
The Kilkenny Triathlon Club holds the 2026 KTC Triathlon at Kilkenny Castle on Sunday 26 July. The event includes both individual and relay entries and offers two race formats with swim, bike and run legs. Registration closes on Friday 24 July 2026 unless the event sells out.
Race distances:
- Try-a-Tri: 250m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
Non-members must purchase a one day Triathlon Ireland membership to race. Competitors must be aged 18 or older on race day. Insurance cover is provided through Triathlon Ireland for sanctioned event participants. Entry fees listed by the organiser are: relay €90, individual Try-a-Tri €50, individual Sprint €60.
Swim routes start at John’s Bridge and exit at the boat slip by Castle Park. The Try-a-Tri swim is a 250m downstream course. The Sprint swim includes 250m upstream to a buoy, then 500m downstream to the same exit.
The 20km bike course departs from Castle Park, follows Nuncio Road onto Waterford Road, turns at The Harvester Pub onto Bennettsbridge Road and returns into Kilkenny toward Castle Park. Roads are not closed for the cycle, so standard road rules apply.
The 5km run passes the Castle Graveyard, follows the Castle path and Canal Walk with turnaround points near St John’s Bridge and the Ossory Bridge, finishing near the playground in Castle Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
