International Peace Marathon 2026
The International Peace Marathon takes place in Košice, Slovakia. This long-standing event features a flat city course based on the layout used for the 1997 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. The track consists of a loop fully covered in asphalt with minimal elevation changes. The total elevation gain for the full marathon distance is 74 meters, with only a 16.35-meter difference between the lowest and highest points.
Participants can choose from several disciplines:
- Marathon (42.195 km): A two-loop course with a 6-hour time limit.
- Half Marathon (21.097 km): A single loop of the city circuit.
- Relay 4x1/4 Marathon (42.195 km): Teams of four runners covering segments of 12 km and 9 km.
- Handbike (20 km): A race finishing at Marathon Peace Square.
The event follows World Athletics and Slovak Athletic Federation rules. The marathon course holds international certifications from World Athletics and AIMS. Registration is conducted exclusively online. The entry fee include a start number with an integrated timing chip, a finisher medal for those completing within the time limit, access to refreshment stations every 5 km, and luggage storage.
Age requirements vary by distance. The marathon and handbike categories require participants to be at least 18 years old.
