Košice Peace Marathon 2026
The Košice Peace Marathon (Medzinárodný maratón mieru) is a major road running event held in the city of Košice, Slovakia. The event features a variety of disciplines tailored to different age groups and athletic levels. The main marathon course is a city circuit based on a design used for the 1997 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. This course is known for being flat and fast, with a total elevation difference of only 16.35 meters between its lowest and highest points. The asphalt-covered route is certified by World Athletics (WA) and AIMS.
Participants can choose from several physical disciplines:
- Marathon: 42.195 km
- Half Marathon: 21.097 km
- Relay Marathon: 4x1/4 marathon (distances of 12 km and 9 km)
- Handbike: 20 km
- Inline Skating: 20 km
Specific age limits apply to each discipline. Runners must be at least 18 years old for the full marathon and handbike races. The half marathon requires a minimum age of 16, while the relay and inline skating disciplines are open to those aged 15 and older. The inline race is subject to a qualification limit of 50 minutes for the distance.
The marathon has a time limit of 6 hours. After this period, the race is officially closed. The start and finish lines for most disciplines are located on Hlavná Street, situated between hotel DoubleTree by Hilton and the Dargov department store. The organizers provide various services, including time measurement via chip technology, refreshment stations every 5 km, luggage storage, and medical assistance along the route and at the finish line.
