Event overview
The Kodiak Mountain Series is a three-day stage race in Kodiak, Alaska, held June 18-20, 2026. The event covers a total of about 20 miles with roughly 8,000 ft of elevation gain across three mountain runs. It is sanctioned by USATF, which will award cash prizes to top finishers who are USATF members. The event lists Island Trails Network as an event partner and is Trail Sisters approved. Registration opens January 10, 2026. Volunteer opportunities and a non-profit bib auction are part of the event program; proceeds from auctioned bibs go 100% to the sponsored local non-profit.
Courses and race format
- Heitman: 5.91 miles, 2,238 ft gain
- Sharatin: 7.76 miles, 2,777 ft gain
- Pyramid: 5.00 miles, 2,138 ft gain
Results are based on the sum of each participant’s times from the three stages; the lowest total time wins in Men’s, Women’s, and Teams categories, with no age divisions. Each individual stage will also include a King of the Mountain (KOM) award for the fastest ascent, with no divisions. Course descriptions note single-track approaches, alpine sections with shale and rock on Sharatin, a one-way route past Heitman Lake on Heitman, and green flagging to guide runners on the Pyramid loop.
