Knox/Whitley Humane Association 5K Mutt Strut
The Knox/Whitley Humane Association 5K Mutt Strut and Dogwalk is an annual event held in Corbin, Kentucky, supporting a local nonprofit animal shelter. The organization serves as a charity housing homeless animals from Whitley, Knox, and Clay Counties. Proceeds from the event contribute to the shelter's efforts in reducing the stray animal population and finding homes for rescued animals.
The event features two primary distances:
- 5K timed running race
- 1 Mile dog walk and fun run
The course is located within a quiet neighborhood and is characterized as a flat, fast route with minimal vehicle traffic. For the timed 5K distance, participants benefit from chip timing services provided by Open Road Race Management.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own dogs to the event. For those who do not have a dog, the shelter provides an opportunity to walk with one of the resident shelter animals. On-site registration is available on the day of the event, and shirts are provided based on the remaining availability. The start and finish area is situated at 1901 Snyder St. in Corbin.
