Knox/Whitley Humane Association 5K Mutt Strut
The Knox/Whitley Humane Association 5K Mutt Strut and Dogwalk is an annual event held in Corbin, Kentucky. Now in its 17th year, the event serves as a fundraiser for the local animal shelter, a nonprofit organization that provides housing for homeless animals from Whitley and Knox Counties. The proceeds support efforts to reduce the number of stray animals in the community and assist in finding permanent homes for shelter residents.
The event features two primary participation options:
- 5K timed race
- 1 Mile dog walk and fun run
The course is located in a quiet neighborhood with minimal traffic. It is characterized as a flat and fast route, suitable for participants seeking a consistent pace. For the 5K distance, timing is conducted using electronic chips provided by Open Road Race Management.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own dogs to the event. For those who do not have a dog, the Knox/Whitley Humane Association brings several shelter animals to the race site that are available to walk with participants. Registration is available in advance, and race day registration is also offered. T-shirts are provided on the day of the event based on current availability.
