Klickitat Trail Run
The Klickitat Trail Run is a nonprofit fundraising event organized by the Columbia Gorge Running Club with support from the Klickitat School District. It is based at the Klickitat Youth Center, 92 Main Street, Klickitat, WA, and benefits the Klickitat School District and community center.
Distances offered:
- Half marathon
- 5K
- Youth 12 and under 5K free for ages 12 and younger
The trail follows the Klickitat River and runs beside canyon walls with visible fall colors. The route is described as medium technical, with rocky sections and some faster, smooth stretches. The half marathon features a slow-grade incline totaling about 500 feet and has two aid stations located near miles 6 and 10. Mile markers and porta potties are placed along the course, and first aid responders are positioned near the 10 mile station. A sweeper will follow the last participants. Participants should be able to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace; those falling behind may be asked to turn back for safety.
Event logistics include shuttle buses from the Youth Center to trail start locations; participants who miss the shuttle are responsible for their own transportation. Race packets include a reusable drop bag and a wristband required to receive post run chili. There are awards for top finishers in age and gender categories. Registration opens May 15 and closes October 31, 2026; fee increases apply after October 10. There is no day of registration and no refunds, though rollovers may be offered.
