Klickitat Trail Run
The Klickitat Trail Run is a non-profit fundraising event organized by the Columbia Gorge Running Club in support of the Klickitat School District and community center. The race takes place along the Klickitat River, featuring a route surrounded by canyon walls and autumn foliage. The course consists of medium technical trail sections, including rocky areas and smooth, flat surfaces.
The event offers the following distances:
- Half Marathon: A point-to-point course starting in Lyle and finishing at the Youth Center in Klickitat. It features a slow-grade incline of 500 feet over the entire distance.
- 5K: A point-to-point route starting at the Pitt Trailhead and ending at the Youth Center.
- Youth 12 & under: A free entry option for the 5K distance.
Participants meet at the Jerry Lynch Community Center at 92 Main Street for check-in. From there, shuttle buses transport runners to the specific starting lines in Lyle and Pitt Trailhead. Parking is available at the Youth Center parking lot with overflow parking located at the Klickitat school.
The Half Marathon course includes two aid stations located near miles 6 and 10, with portable toilets available at the start and at mile 10. There is a pace requirement of 16 minutes per mile for all participants. A sweep vehicle follows the final participants to ensure safety. Race packets include a reusable stuff sack that serves as a drop bag for warm clothing, which is transported from the start lines back to the finish area for collection.
