Klickitat Trail Run
The Columbia Gorge Running Club, with support from the Klickitat School District and the Klickitat Trail Conservancy, organizes a nonprofit trail running event at the Klickitat Youth Center, 92 Main Street, Klickitat, WA. Proceeds benefit the Klickitat School District and community center.
Distances offered:
- Half marathon
- 5K
- Youth 12 and under
The half marathon is a point to point course that follows the Klickitat River and canyon walls. The trail is medium technical with rocky sections and a cumulative slow grade of about 500 feet. The course is marked and has mile posts. Aid stations are located near miles 6 and 10 and first aid coverage is available near mile 10. Porta potties are provided at the start and near mile 10. A drop bag system returns items to the community center for participant pickup; each participant receives a reusable stuff sack with name and race number.
Shuttle buses transport participants from the community center to the start locations; participants who miss the shuttle are responsible for their own transport. There is no day of race registration. Registration opens May 1 and closes October 31 on the event registration platform. The 5K is free for participants age 12 and younger.
There are course cutoffs and a requirement to maintain roughly a 16 minute per mile pace; a sweeper follows the final participant. Post run soup with a vegetarian option is included with packet pickup. The event relies on volunteers to operate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
