Kiowa Labor Day 5K
The Kiowa Labor Day 5K is the 41st annual running event held in Kiowa, Kansas at the Community Building, 119 S. 5th St. The event includes an in-person 5K, a 1 mile fun run, and a virtual 5K shirt-only option. Registration opens July 9, 2026. In-person registration closes September 7, 2026; the virtual shirt option closes August 28, 2026.

The race course is a flat loop on paved streets and is USATF certified (94031BG). The course is marked with split times at miles 1 and 2. A water stop is available mid-race. Cold water and Gatorade are provided at the finish line, where restroom facilities are also available. The organizer provides official times only for finishers.
Awards include 5K trophies for males and females in overall and age categories: overall 9 & under through 30-39; overall masters 40-49 through 70 plus; plus recognitions such as middle of the pack, youngest and oldest finisher, and first Kiowa finisher. Overall and master winners are not eligible for age group awards. Trophies will not be mailed.
