About the race
The Kinloch Offroad Challenge is a trail running event held in Kinloch, Taupō, using the local world-class trail network. The event base is on the Kinloch Domain by the Kinloch Community Hall. Courses route through varied terrain and notable local features, including Kawakawa Bay, a headland loop, and the Whangamata stream, providing distinct experiences on each course.
Distances offered:
- 42.2 km marathon
- 21.1 km half marathon
- 10 km run or walk
- 5 km run or walk
- Trail Tigers kids dash (run or walk)
All finishers receive a 3D koru medal. The event operates with an environmental focus: disposable cups are removed from aid stations, so participants are asked to bring a reusable cup, hydration pack, or water bottle; collapsible silicone cups are available at event base for $5. The Kinloch Offroad Challenge is part of the Roam Free Trail Series and partners with local carbon and sustainability initiatives to reduce event impact.
