About the race
Keji's Backyard Ultra is the sixth edition held at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site, with the race venue at the Jim Charles Point parking lot near 2 Jeremys Bay Campground Rd, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. The event uses an hourly backyard ultra format: each loop is a 6.67 km out-and-back on a gravel trail; runners must complete each loop within one hour to continue, and the race continues until only one runner completes a loop within the time limit. The course is described as an easy gravel trail and noted as Out & Back Course with ~35m+/yard.
The field is capped at 175 runners and a waitlist is maintained; transfers are not allowed because of the waitlist. Vehicle parking at the start area is limited to two vehicles per runner; additional crew and spectators must park elsewhere in the park. Registration pricing listed for the backyard ultra is CA$131.83 and includes custom NSTR swag and draw prize eligibility. Refund policy: 75% refund available up to March 1, 2027, and 50% refund up to May 15, 2027. Deferrals are allowed for participants who volunteer for an eight hour shift at this event or at the Capes 100 in August. Volunteer entrants and top finishers from the prior year receive complimentary entry. Cash payout structure for top distances is provided by the organizer:
- 50 yards or less: $1500 winner, $500 assist
