Katherine Ultra Challenge 2025
The Katherine Ultra Challenge is a one day multisport event held in and around Nitmiluk National Park and the Katherine Gorge. The race comprises multiple legs on varying terrain and allows entry as an individual or as a team of two to six people. The event is AusTriathlon sanctioned; competitors with a current AusTriathlon race licence may indicate this during registration. A one day licence costs an additional $30 if not an AusTri membership. Entry fees are listed as Individual $220, Team of 2 $280 plus $60 for each additional team member.
The course includes river, trail, road and 4WD track sections. The trail run for 2025 includes an extra 2 km compared with previous editions. Minimum age on race day is 18 for solo competitors and 17 for team competitors.
During the long weekend and on race day participants, teams and spectators have the option to camp at Nitmiluk and to purchase food and refreshments. Presentations and prize draws are held at the venue after the event. Volunteers and organising committee roles are used to support event operations. - 2 km swim in Nitmiluk (Second) Gorge
- 4.2 km canoe paddle in double canoes supplied by Nitmiluk
- 10 km trail run with a 2025 course change adding 2 km
- 40 km road bike from Nitmiluk Ranger Station
- 18 km mountain bike on Southern Escarpment trails
- 10 km 4WD track run completed as two 5 km out and back laps
