Event Overview
Karis' Cause 5K takes place at Rotary Park on the OSU-Newark/COTC campus in Newark, Ohio. This athletic event serves a charitable purpose, with all proceeds supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer. The event offers multiple ways to participate, including a competitive timed race, a non-timed fun run or walk, and a virtual participation option.
Course Information
The 3.1 mile (5K) course begins at Rotary Park and follows a paved path. Participants travel alongside the OSU-Newark/COTC campus, cross over SR 16, and run in close proximity to Raccoon Creek. Water and refreshments are provided at the finish line.
Available Distances
- 5K Race - Timed Event: A competitive race with electronic timing.
- 5K Fun Run/Walk: A non-timed version of the course.
- 5K Virtual Event: A remote participation option.
Awards and Recognition
All finishers in the 5K categories receive a medal. For the timed competitive event, trophies are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are provided to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories:
- 14 and under
- 15-19
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60-69
- 70 and over
Participant Amenities
Registered participants receive a race packet that includes a custom t-shirt with the official logo and a race bib. While those registered by August 1st are guaranteed a shirt, others are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
