Event Overview
The Karis' Cause 5K takes place at Rotary Park on the OSU-Newark/COTC campus in Newark, Ohio. This event supports families and children affected by childhood cancer. Participants can choose between different formats over a 3.1 mile (5K) distance. Activities include:
- 5K Race: A timed competitive event where participants are eligible for awards.
- 5K Fun Run/Walk: A non-timed version of the course for those not seeking competitive placement.
- 5K Virtual Event: An option to complete the distance remotely at a location of the participant's choice.
Course Details
The course starts at Rotary Park and follows a paved path along the OSU-Newark/COTC campus. The route crosses over SR 16 and runs in close proximity to Raccoon Creek. All participants receive a finishers' medal upon completing the distance.
Awards and Perks
Custom t-shirts and race bibs are provided in the race packets. Registrants who sign up by July 22nd are guaranteed a shirt, while remaining inventory is distributed on race day. Water and refreshments are available at the finish line.
Participants in the timed race compete for trophies awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the top three male and female finishers in various age groups receive medals. These age categories range from 14 and under to those aged 70 and over.
