Kangaroo Island Marathon
The Kangaroo Island Marathon is a multi-distance running event held inside Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Distances on offer include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Sealink 10 km
- KI50 new event
The course route runs through the heart of a shutdown Flinders Chase National Park and includes sections of post-bushfire regenerating flora and fauna. The roads are described as undulating with deviations, and an exposed coastal section offers cliff top views to the southern ocean. A boardwalk leads to the Remarkable Rocks, which features on the route.
The event was established in 2015 and has welcomed runners representing 25 countries and every Australian state over the past decade. It received a bronze medal at the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards for Best Regional Event and Festival; the award recognised the event's resilience following the 2019-2020 bushfires and its role in attracting runners back to the island.
An Adelaide-based Marathon Tours & Travel team owns and operates the Kangaroo Island Run Festival and offers travel packages for runners and spectators. The listed race date for the next edition is 23rd August 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
