5K for K9s - Columbus, OH
The event is an in-person 5K run or walk held at Alum Creek State Park Beach Area in Lewis Center, Ohio on September 26, 2026. A virtual 5K option is available that may be completed between September 24 and September 27, 2026; virtual participants receive mailed event items.
The fundraiser is produced by Friends of the Shelter, an all-volunteer nonprofit. One hundred percent of net proceeds support medical care for dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center. Dogs on leash are permitted at the event. The event lists a maximum attendee capacity of 1,000.
Registration fees are tiered: $35 early bird through August 1, $40 regular from August 2 through September 25, and $45 on race day. Every in-person bib includes a timing chip and race results are posted after the event. Race packets for pre-registered and virtual participants include an event T-shirt, a finisher medal, a goodie bag with sponsor items, and pre- and post-race refreshments for in-person attendees. Free parking is available at the Alum Creek State Park beach area lot.
