Event Overview
The Jungfrau-Marathon Interlaken is a multi-day running event held in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The main competition is the mountain marathon, which draws a field of 4,000 participants. In addition to the long-distance race, the event includes various supporting competitions held on the preceding days.
Race Categories
The event features several distances and formats to accommodate different age groups and abilities:
- Marathon: A 42.195 km mountain race.
- Harder Run Race: A 4.4 km mountain run featuring 755 meters of altitude gain, leading from the Höhematte in Interlaken to Harder Kulm.
- Minimarathon: A 4.2 km "Fun Run".
- Minirun: Short-distance races ranging from 200 m to 1600 m for children and adolescents up to 16 years old.
- Pararace: Races from 200 m to 4.4 km designed for the inclusion of athletes with disabilities.
Additional Features
The program includes a Marathon Village with an integrated EXPO and a Pasta Party for participants. The event organizers also host the Lauberhorn Run, a separate winter race covering 4.48 km and 1028 meters of altitude gain on the snow-covered Lauberhorn World Cup downhill course.
