About the race
La Jungfrau Marathon is a road marathon that starts in Interlaken and covers a distance of 42.195 km with 1,953 metres of elevation gain. The route runs beside Lake Brienz, passes through Swiss villages and climbs toward the mountain area dominated by the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks, offering varied alpine scenery along the course.
The event attracts about 4,000 entrants each year and is regularly fully booked. Along the route local traditions are present: flag bearers, alphorn players and cowbells accompany the runners.
