42nd Julie Hughes Triathlon, Sitka AK
The Julie Hughes Triathlon takes place in Sitka, Alaska on May 16, 2026. The event is organized by a local swim club and donates proceeds to the Sitka Cancer Survivors Network. The race uses facilities and roads near 601 Halibut Point Road and Blatchley Pool.
The main course distances are:
- 5 mile run
- 14 mile bike
- 1000 yard swim
A short course is provided for participants aged 12 and under with the following youth distances:
- 1.5 mile run
- 6 mile bike
- 500 yard swim
The run route passes over McConnell Bridge toward town and reaches the US Coast Guard Base before returning. The bike leg is an out-and-back course along Halibut Point Road with an adult turnaround near Starrigavan and a youth turnaround at the Sandy Beach parking lot. The swim takes place at Blatchley Pool and is measured in lengths and laps.
Transition area and pool procedures are specified. All transition traffic is by foot only. Riders must dismount before entering or leaving transition and wear a buckled helmet while riding. Swimmers must shower before entering the pool, check in for lane assignment, and no diving is allowed.
