Memorial 5K - DeKalb, TX
This community memorial 5K takes place in De Kalb, Texas on September 26, 2026, and is organized by the De Kalb Bear Booster Athletic Department. The event supports local student athletes, with 100 percent of entry fees returned to the athletic program.
The course begins and ends at the DISD marquee on Grizzly Drive and covers 3.1 Miles. Runners follow Grizzly Drive into the DeKalb Industrial Park, continue on concrete Liberty Drive, then transition to a dirt and grassy trail behind DeKalb City Park. The route returns via Walker Street and Lee Street, proceeds past the high school onto Maple and Broadway streets, and finishes back on Grizzly Drive. The course is clearly marked and will have a lead person. Water is provided at the start/finish area and at the halfway point. The course is closed to through traffic, though participants should be aware some drivers may not comply with controls.
Registration opens July 30, 2026 and closes September 25, 2026, with late registration available the morning of the event. Entry fees and shirt information: individual entry includes a shirt for $35; school team entries do not include shirts and are $75 per team, up to $300 per school. Additional shirts may be purchased for $20. Parking is available in the gym parking lot.
Participants registered as walkers agree not to jog or run during the event. For safety, pets are asked to remain off the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
