Jailbreak 5K, Mobile AL
The Jailbreak 5K is a themed road race that starts and finishes at Mardi Gras Park on South Royal Street in Mobile, Alabama. The certified 5K course passes the Mobile County Jail and several bonding companies, then continues along flat, shaded roads designed to support fast running. The route includes a makeshift jail cell near the finish area for a postrace photo opportunity.
Event entries include in-person and mailed registration options with different deadlines: mail entries must be postmarked by October 28, in-person registration is available through November 13, and online registration is available through November 13. To guarantee a race shirt on event day, applications and fees must be submitted by October 21; shirts may still be available after that date. Available entry options and fees listed by the organizer include adult with shirt ($25), youth with shirt age 12 and under ($20), adult no-shirt option ($23), youth no-shirt option ($18), and a Virtual Escape entry ($25).
Awards are given to the top male and female overall and to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus.
