Jailbreak 5K in Mobile, AL
Jailbreak 5K is a certified 5K road race organized by Family of the Fallen with start and finish at Mardi Gras Park on South Royal Street in Mobile, Alabama. The course passes the Mobile County Jail and several Bonding Companies and uses flat, shaded roads.
The event offers two race categories: Adult and Youth 12 and under, each covering 3.1 Miles. Entry fees are specified by category.
Registration opens August 4 and closes October 28. Entries may be mailed if postmarked by October 28, submitted in person at McCoy Outdoor, Run-N-Tri, or Fleet Feet in Mobile until November 13, or completed online until November 13. To guarantee a race shirt on race day, applications and fees must be submitted by October 21; shirts remain available after that date.
Entry fees include an inmate t-shirt, a fugitive ID bib, recovery contraband, and winners’ loot. Awards are given to the top male and female overall and to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus.
After the finish at Mardi Gras Park, finishers may use a makeshift jail cell for photos. Awards, snacks, and beverages will be provided after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
