The half marathon route runs along the west side of the island past sandy beaches, then climbs across loch-strewn moorland before descending to the finish area in the ferry port of Tarbert. The course starts just north of Borve, reaches a highest point of 140 m, and finishes along the A859 onto Old Pier Road behind the school. The final stretch follows the south perimeter of the school and finishes in line with the western edge of the sports field.
Race facilities include spacious modern changing areas and toilets inside the school. Designated areas are provided for personal gear. For clothing left at the start to be returned to the race base, a plastic bag and label system is used and bags are transported back by vehicle. Buses transport runners to the start line and water stops are provided at roughly three mile intervals.
Prizes are awarded for overall places and for male and female age categories including 40, 50 and 60 plus awards for the first local runner and the first team. The course closes in the afternoon; runners expecting to take more than three hours should make an early entry and contact the race organisers.
