Isle of Harris Half Marathon
The Isle of Harris event includes a half marathon plus shorter fun runs held on Saturday 3rd July 2027. The race base is at the sports hub on the site of the local high school in West Tarbert, a short walk from the ferry terminal.
The half marathon route starts just north of Borve, follows the west side of the island past sandy beaches, climbs across loch-strewn moorland to a highest point of 140 m, and finishes on Old Pier Road adjacent to the school sports field in Tarbert. Buses transport runners from the race base to the start line. Water stops are placed at roughly three mile intervals.
The school provides spacious modern changing areas and toilets, plus designated areas for leaving gear during the race. Clothing left for return to the race base is labeled and taken back by bus. Organizers advise against bringing valuables to the start.
Prize giving takes place after the races and includes awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall, male and female winners in age categories 40 plus, 50 plus and 60 plus, the first local runner, and the first team. Runners who expect to take longer than three hours are accommodated separately and are taken to the start ahead of the main field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
