Isle of Harris Half Marathon
The Isle of Harris Half Marathon takes place on the Isle of Harris in Scotland. This event is a long-standing fixture in the Scottish running calendar and offers multiple distance options for participants:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 5K
- Fun Run
The half marathon course begins just north of Borve and follows a path that passes sandy beaches on the west side of the island. The route features undulating terrain and reaches a highest point of 140 meters as it crosses loch-strewn moorland. The race concludes on Old Pier Road in the ferry port of Tarbert. Water stations are positioned along the course at intervals of approximately 3 miles.
The event base is located at the sports hub of the local high school in West Tarbert, which is a short distance from the ferry terminal. This facility provides changing areas, toilets, and designated spaces for storing personal belongings. Transportation is provided for runners from the school to the starting line at Borve Lodge.
The course remains open for three hours. Participants who expect to take longer than this duration can arrange an earlier departure to the start line by contacting the organizers. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers, winners in age categories from 40 to 60, the first local runner, and the first team.
