Ireland West 3/4 Marathon, 10k and 5k - Swinford Athletic Club
The Ireland West races take place on 5 September 2026 with race headquarters at Swinford Community Centre in Swinford, Co. Mayo. Three distances are offered:
- 3/4 Marathon
- 10k
- 5k
Registration is available online and in person. In-person registration is required to collect the race pack, which includes a bib with timing chip, pins and a T shirt for the first 250 online entries. Registration opens the evening before the event and again on race day; participants must bring identification. Refunds or deferrals are not available.
Race routes are accurately measured and certified by Athletics Ireland. Maps will be displayed in the registration hall. All races start and finish close to the Community Centre. Race marshals will be at major junctions and kilometre markers will be placed for guidance; some roads remain open to traffic so normal road rules apply. A race briefing will begin shortly before each race.
Refreshments are provided along the courses: nine stations on the 3/4 marathon at roughly 3 km intervals, three stations on the 10k, and one station on the 5k. Items include bottled water, cups of water, fruit segments, fruit cake and sweets. Toilet facilities are available at several points on the longer routes. First aid cover is provided by Civil Defence and Order of Malta.
Bags may be left at race HQ at the owner’s risk. Results will be published immediately after completion. Prizes are awarded by overall placing and age categories, with winners determined by gun time or order of crossing the line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
