Ireland West 3/4 Marathon - Swinford Athletic Club
The event in Swinford, County Mayo includes three measured races: a 3/4 Marathon, a 10 km, and a 5 km. Race headquarters and registration are at the Swinford Community Centre. Parking is available around the community centre and at nearby locations including the GAA club, the amenity park, and the Tesco car park; some parking requires a short walk to race HQ.
Online registration is available and in-person registration takes place the evening before and on race morning. Registration packs include a bib with timing chip, pins, and a T shirt for the first 250 online entries; runners must register in person. Bags may be left at race HQ at the owner’s risk.
All routes are accurately measured and certified by AAI. Routes start and finish close to the community centre. Race marshals will be at major junctions and kilometre markers are provided for guidance but are not official measurements. Some road closures will be in place while other roads remain open to traffic, so normal rules of the road apply. The course will be officially closed after 4.5 hours.
Medical cover is provided by Civil Defence and Order of Malta. On-course refreshments include bottled water, water in cups, fruit segments, fruit cake and sweets; the 3/4 Marathon has ten stations at roughly 3 km intervals. Prizes are awarded by overall placing and age categories, with additional local and club awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
