26th International WACHAUmarathon
The WACHAUmarathon takes place in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Wachau, Austria. The course runs along the Danube river, passing through medieval villages and vineyard terraces. Characterized by flat topography and minimal elevation changes, the route is designed to support a consistent running rhythm.
Participants can choose from several distances and formats:
- 42.2 km Marathon (starting in Emmersdorf)
- 21.1 km Half Marathon (starting in Spitz)
- 11 km Quarter Marathon (starting in Achleiten)
- 42.2 km Relay Marathon (teams of 2, 3, or 4)
- 11 km Team Quarter Marathon (teams of 4)
- 21.1 km Nordic Walking Half Marathon
- Junior Marathon (for participants born in 2010 and younger)
The event includes a marathon expo and bib collection at the Messe Krems. While the main races occur on Sunday, the junior competitions and expo activities begin on Saturday. The marathon finish area is located in Krems an der Donau. Relay options for the full marathon distance allow groups to split the 42.2 km course into segments for two, three, or four runners.
