26th International WACHAUmarathon 2026
The WACHAUmarathon is an established running event held in the Wachau region, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000. For over 25 years, the race has taken participants through a landscape characterized by medieval towns and historic vineyards along the Danube river. The course is notable for its flat topography with minimal elevation changes, which supports a steady running rhythm.
Participants can choose from several distances and participation modes:
- 42.2 km marathon starting in Emmersdorf
- 21.1 km half marathon starting in Spitz
- 11 km quarter marathon starting in Achleiten
- 11 km team quarter marathon for groups of four
- 42.2 km relay marathon for teams of two, three, or four people
- 21.1 km Nordic Walking half marathon starting in Spitz
- Junior marathon for those born in 2010 and younger
The event center and various race finishes are located in Krems an der Donau. In the days leading up to the competition, race numbers can be collected in Vienna and at the marathon expo in Krems. The expo also offers last-minute registrations and informational booths. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
