In Yan Teopa 5 & 10 Miler
The In Yan Teopa is a trail race held at Frontenac State Park in Minnesota. The event features two distinct distance options through varied terrain and natural landscapes:
- 5 miles
- 10 miles
Participants travel across a mix of surfaces and environments, including rolling prairies, single-track trails, and several climbs. The park is situated near the Mississippi River, 10 miles southeast of Red Wing and 5 miles northwest of Lake City.
This is a cupless event intended to reduce environmental impact. Runners are required to carry their own water bottles, containers, or running vests. While paper cups are not provided, water is available at the start and finish lines. For those participating in the 10-mile distance, a mid-way aid station provides water, fruit, and snacks.
Frontenac State Park requires an admission fee for vehicle entry. Participants and volunteers are asked to park in the lot located near the top of the park. Restrooms are available at the start and finish areas. For those traveling from outside the local area, the park offers camping facilities for tents and RVs, while traditional hotel lodging is available in the nearby towns of Red Wing and Lake City.
