Event overview

The Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race is an open fell race organised by Holmfirth Harriers. It takes place on Sunday 15 March 2026 and is part of the club fell championship. The course distance is 6.5 miles (10.3 km) with 260 m (850 ft) of ascent. Race headquarters and registration are at Marsden Cricket Club, Mount Road, Marsden, Huddersfield, HD7 6NN. Minimum age on the day is 18 and the entry limit is 200.

Course and race logistics

The route runs on boggy, rough moorland on the edge of the Pennines and is partly flagged. It uses sections of the Pennine Way and the Standedge Trail and includes an ascent of Pule Hill. The route description notes tussocky trods, footbridge crossings and stream crossings in Butterly Clough; a footbridge at the bottom has been removed so competitors should expect to get their feet wet at one crossing. Organisers advise competitors to be prepared for wintry or changeable conditions and to carry full FRA kit as required; the exact kit requirements will be posted at the cricket club.

Entry and facilities

Pre-entry is available via SiEntries with fees listed as £7 for FRA members and £9 for non-members; on-the-day entry may be permitted if the event has not reached its limit at an additional cost. Hot and cold drinks and post-race refreshments are available at the clubhouse. Competitors are asked not to clean muddy footwear in the clubhouse sinks and to respect the facilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
