Event overview

The course is approximately 6.5 miles (10.3 km) with 260 m (850 ft) of ascent. Minimum age is 18 on the day and entry is limited to 200 competitors. Pre-entry is available via SiEntries; entry fees are listed as £7 (FRA members) and £9 (non-members) for pre-entry, with higher fees for entry on the day if available. Pre-entries open and close on the dates published on the organiser’s entry page.

Course, safety and facilities

The route runs across boggy, rough moorland on the edge of the Pennines and uses sections of the Pennine Way and the Standedge Trail, including an ascent of Pule Hill. The route is partly flagged and includes tussocky trods, catchwaters, footbridges and stream crossings; one footbridge at the bottom of Butterly Clough has been removed and a wet crossing is expected. Race registration is at Marsden Cricket Club and the race start is about a 10 minute walk from registration. Competitors may be required to carry full FRA kit; kit requirements for the day will be posted at the club. Hot and cold drinks and cake will be available after the race. The organiser asks runners to avoid bringing muddy footwear into the clubhouse and to respect the club facilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
