49th Annual Howell Melon Run
The Howell Melon Run is a community running and walking event held in downtown Howell, Michigan in August 2026. Howell Recreation and presenting sponsor Chem-Trend organize the event. The course passes through residential streets, Lakeview Cemetery, and Howell City Park. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and competitors using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
Event types include:
- Howell Melon Roll for ages 2-5
- One in a Melon Mile
- Howell Melon Run 5K
- Mascot Dash
Early packet pickup is scheduled for August 11–13 at the Bennett Recreation Center, 925 W Grand River Ave, Howell MI 48843. Packets will also be available on race day. Registrations on or before July 27, 2026 are guaranteed a short-sleeved shirt; registrations after that date will not receive a shirt. Any leftover shirts will be offered for purchase one week after the race for $20 each.
The race is chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Accurate chip times and current overall and age-group places are texted to participants and posted online. Awards include overall male and female, masters male and female, and finisher medals. One hundred percent of net proceeds support community programs for the Howell area.
