Hot Summer Singletrack Trail Race
Mountain bike riders, trail runners and wheelchair athletes will use the technical dirt trails and park roads of Franke Park in Fort Wayne for timed events held in summer. The event offers multiple timed formats on established loops and park routes.
Mountain bike courses use a seven mile loop on the park's technical dirt trails. Trail runners use a three mile loop on the same technical dirt trails. Wheelchair competitors follow a course that includes paved path and gravel road. Events are organized in three hour and six hour formats.
Event distances include:
- Six Hour MTB Ride: 60 miles; seven mile loop.
- Three Hour MTB Ride: 30 miles; seven mile loop.
- Six Hour Trail Run: 31 miles; three mile loop.
- Three Hour Trail Run: 18 miles; three mile loop.
- Six Hour Wheelchair: six hour race on paved path and gravel road.
- Three Hour Wheelchair: three hour race on paved path and gravel road.
Registration fee is $30 for listed events; the race is free to young people 18 and under. Snacks and picnic style food are included with registration. Water, hydration mixes, Coke and Sprite are provided for participants. Packet pickup is available Friday and Saturday at the Hub in Franke Park. A tent area is located near the Hub at the base of Derby Hill. Awards are presented to the winner of each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
