Hostýnská osma
Hostýnská osma is a series of trail events held in the Hostýnské vrchy (Hostýn Hills). The event program includes long trail races with significant elevation gain, a virtual race, a short vertical race, and a family-oriented "fairy forest" trail for children.
Race formats and sample parameters:
- I8H8 roughly 68 km with about 3 050 m of ascent.
- I8H108 roughly 108 km with about 4 500 m of ascent.
- Virtual race about 21.8 km with roughly 1 050 m of ascent. Other formats include a vertical race and shorter family routes.
The children's "Osmácký pohádkový les" is organized annually and offers a route of about 7–9 km with activity stations, tasks for children, small refreshment packs for early arrivals, diplomas and medals for completed cards, and on-site attractions such as play areas and climbing walls. Entry to the children's trail is voluntary donation based and proceeds support a charitable project linked to the event.
A charity initiative associated with the event raised 110 000 Kč for two beneficiaries, distributed as 70 000 Kč and 40 000 Kč. Results tracking is available via a mobile app, web results pages, time-gate displays, and GPS trackers for selected races. The event publishes maps, rules and propositions for each race format and maintains sponsors and partners that support logistics and services.
