Hoover Prairie Run : West Branch Lions Club
The Hoover Prairie Run is scheduled for August 8, 2026 as part of Hoover Hometown Days. The event includes a cross-country style 5K run and a shorter 1.5K walk held on the grounds of the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Hoover Presidential Library.
The 5K follows mown, hilly grass trails through the Tall-Grass Prairie and uses a mix of paved and grass paths on the presidential and library grounds. The 1.5K route goes around the Hoover Presidential Library and Museum grounds and past the Presidential Gravesite. Water stations are provided on the run route, and participants receive water and a snack at the finish area.
Registration fees differ by date: registrations received by July 25 are $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1.5K; after July 25 the fees increase to $35 for the 5K and $25 for the walk. Online registration is open through August 6; same-day, in-person registration is available the morning of the event. Each paid registrant by July 25 receives a t-shirt. Medals are awarded to the top three female and male finishers in the 5K within these age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 and up. No pets are allowed.
