Hook Mountain Ultra
The Hook Mountain Ultra is a trail running event held at Nyack Beach State Park in Upper Nyack, NY. The event offers two distance options and uses an 11.5 mile loop repeated multiple times, with a short out and back section before the loops begin.
Distances
- 50 Mile, approx. 9,700 ft elevation gain
- Marathon 27 Mile, approx. 4,900 ft elevation gain
The 50 mile course begins with a 4 mile out and back to spread the field, then follows four consecutive 11.5 mile loops that each gain about 2,431 feet. The 27 mile option shares the same initial out and back and then uses two 11.5 mile loops. Each loop starts and finishes at the Nyack Beach State Park trailhead and begins with a 1.6 mile climb to the summit of Hook Mountain. The route includes river-side bike path sections, exposed ridge running on the Long Path, technical descents on the Treason Trail, and gravel runnable sections.
Three aid stations are located on the loop, approximately every 3 to 4.5 miles, and are stocked with water, sports drink, and energy gels. Personal drop bags are allowed at Aid Station 1. Crewing is permitted at Aid Station 2 only due to parking limitations. There is a 14 hour overall cutoff and an additional 7 hour cutoff for 50 Mile runners at mile 27.
