Honoring 25 Years of Resilience 5K Run/Walk 2027
The event is a 5K community run and walk held in 2027 at Valley Stream Central High School, 135 Fletcher Ave, Valley Stream, NY. The event is a fundraiser for Tunnel to Towers and uses chip timing with race bibs provided to participants. The course begins and ends at the gate connecting the high school to A.J. Hendrickson Park, proceeds north through Hendrickson Park, crosses Hendrickson Avenue into Valley Stream State Park, and follows the northern park loop twice to complete 5K (3.1 miles).
On-site amenities include parking, indoor restroom access, water stations on course and at the finish, music and a DJ at the start and finish area, first aid and medical support, post-race refreshments, event shirts for participants who register before 8/31, and a family-friendly school campus setting. The event provides live results via web, text, and email, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for participants who register at least three weeks in advance.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female, top male and female student, and top male and female staff. Check-in and bib pickup are held at Valley Stream Central Gym, 135 Fletcher Ave. Virtual participants may upload times and photos from Race Day through the following Sunday and may use options such as track laps (4 laps = 1 mile), treadmill, MapMyRun, or Strava for tracking.
