Event overview
The Holiday Lake race weekend in Appomattox, Virginia offers three distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
The event takes place at the Holiday Lake 4H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox, VA. The 10K option was added in 2022. The 50K is part of the Lynchburg Ultra Series. Registration closes two days before the race.
Course and race logistics
The course is a single or double loop circling Holiday Lake and uses country roads and trails, including mostly single-track for the 10K. Total elevation gain for the 25K/50K exceeds 2,000 feet. Aid stations are located approximately every 4 miles. Runners start and finish at the 4H center. Organizers provide a Friday pre-race briefing with pizza and a post-race lunch. Lodging at the camp includes heated bunkhouses (capacity 90+, bunks $25), 12 unheated cabins with 4-6 bunks ($5 per person), and tent or car camping ($5). Training runs are scheduled at the camp with water and snacks provided at mile 8.
