Hoke Community Forest Trail Run
The Hoke Community Forest Trail Run is a dog friendly event located in Raeford, North Carolina. Organized through a collaboration between NC Urban Mushing and Hoke County Parks and Recreation, the event offers a trail course of approximately 3 miles. Participation is open to individuals with or without dogs.
The event features two distinct categories for participants:
- Canicross Race: A 3 mile run for teams using a non-restrictive dog harness attached to a waist belt.
- Dog Friendly Run and Hike: A 3 mile loop for runners and walkers with or without dogs on standard leashes.
For the canicross category, participants start individually at 20-second intervals to maintain safety on the trail. The second start is a mass departure for all other runners and hikers. All participants have until 10:30 to complete the course loop.
Safety regulations require that all dogs present at the site have current rabies vaccinations and remain on a leash throughout the event. Every participant who completes the course receives a commemorative finisher's medal upon crossing the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
