History on the Run
History on the Run is a community running and walking event on June 20, 2026, in Sheridan, Arkansas, at 300 South Oak Street. The event features a 5K run and a 2 mile walk and raises funds for Keeping the Faith Women's and Children's Shelter, which houses women and children fleeing domestic violence or facing homelessness. Recent federal funding cuts have put the shelter at risk of closing, and the event is organized to provide additional financial support.
Distances offered:
- 3.1 Miles
- 2 Miles
The course passes the Grant County Museum, the courthouse, and historic downtown buildings. The start line is one block from the courthouse and there is downtown parking available. A virtual participation option allows walk or run activity at a location of the participant's choosing on the event date. There is also a volunteer registration option. Standard participant registration fee is $30 and volunteer registration is free. After the event, attendees can remain in downtown Sheridan to visit the Farmer's Market and local restaurants.
