Event Overview
The Highley Aquathlon is a multisport competition held in the West Midlands, based at the Halo Severn Centre. The event combines a pool-based swim with a run through local natural landscapes. Participants start the race in an outdoor 25m pool before transitioning to a run course that utilizes the trails of the Severn Valley Country Park.
Course Details
The swimming portion takes place in a controlled outdoor pool environment featuring entry and exit steps. Following the swim, athletes move through a 50m tarmac transition area located at the leisure centre. The running segments vary by age group and include a mix of surfaces such as off-road trails, gravel paths, and grass. The adult route is characterized by a hilly profile with a specific gravelly hill climb located toward the final section of the course.
Race Categories
The event offers several distances tailored to different age groups:
- Adult Aquathlon: 400m swim and 5km run
- TriStar Start: 50m swim and 600m run
- TriStar 1 (ages 9-10): 150m swim and 1500m run
- TriStar 2 (ages 11-12): 250m swim and 2000m run
- TriStar 3 (ages 13-14): 400m swim and 3000m run
