Heroes for the House 5K Run/Walk Presented by IREM Indy - 20th Anniversary
Heroes for the House is a community 5K run and walk held in Indianapolis on June 20, 2026. The event is presented by IREM Indy and marks the 20th anniversary of this fundraiser. The course runs along the Indianapolis Downtown Canal and begins and ends near the NCAA Hall of Champions at 700 W Washington St.
The event includes a main 5K run/walk and a separate Rookie Run for children ages 5 to 10. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers, and additional age group awards will be given. Games and activities for children are scheduled around the event.
Proceeds help families with children in area hospitals cover lodging at the nearby Ronald McDonald House so parents can remain close during treatment. To date IREM Indy, sponsors, and participants have donated over $335,000 and have a room named after the organization at the Ronald McDonald House. In addition to monetary support, the event collects donated items for the house via a pickup truck located near the starting area on race day.
Packet pickup and day of registration take place inside the NCAA Hall of Champions on race day. Registration for the listed events opens October 28, 2025 and closes February 28, 2026; published registration fees are $35 for the 5K and $15 for the Rookie Run.
