Heroes for the House 5K Run/Walk - 20th Anniversary
The event is the 20th anniversary edition of a community 5K held in Indianapolis with start and finish directly in front of the NCAA Hall of Champions. The 5K course runs along the Indianapolis Downtown Canal and includes two on-course water stops located at approximately mile 1 and mile 2. Awards include cash prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers, plus age group awards. There are games and activities for children and a separate Rookie Run for ages 5 to 10 following the main event.
Proceeds support families with children in area hospitals by helping them stay at the nearby Ronald McDonald House at little or no cost; the organizing group reports more than $310,000 donated to date. The event notes recognition received for its charitable contributions, including the Helping Hand Award and having a room named at the Ronald McDonald House. Packet pickup and race day registration take place inside the NCAA Hall of Champions. Parking and a course map are available for participants and attendees.
