20th Anniversary Edition
The Heroes for the House event returns to Indianapolis for its 20th year. This community run and walk features a course along the Indianapolis Downtown Canal. The start and finish lines are situated directly in front of the NCAA Hall of Champions, on the south side of the building near Celebration Plaza.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K (Run or Walk)
- Rookie Run (For children ages 5-10)
The 5K course includes two water stops, located approximately at the one-mile and two-mile markers. Pets are permitted to participate alongside runners and walkers. For younger athletes, a Rookie Run takes place after the main 5K event, and the venue provides additional games and activities for children.
Competitive elements include cash prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers, as well as awards for different age groups. Event proceeds are donated to the Ronald McDonald House to support families with children receiving treatment in local hospitals. To date, this event has raised over $310,000 for these services. Registrations are accepted on the morning of the event inside the NCAA Hall of Champions, which also serves as the location for packet pickup.
