Hellz Bellz Ultra
The Hellz Bellz Ultra is a trail running event taking place on July 5, 2026, at Yacolt Recreation Park in Yacolt, Washington. The event features three race distances:
- 50 mile Ultra Marathon
- Hellz Gate 50K
- Purgatory Trail Marathon (26 miles)
All races start at 6:00 AM. Registration includes camping, a post-race meal, and a finisher award.
The 50-Mile Course The 50-mile ultra marathon begins at the Hantwick Road Trailhead. The route starts on a gravel path before transitioning to a single-track climb on the Bells Mountain trail. The course passes through clear cuts and stream crossings, offering views of Mount St. Helens. The first major aid station is at the Yacolt Burn Trailhead around mile 12. From there, runners complete a counter-clockwise loop on the Tarbell Trail, described as featuring technical climbs, waterfalls, and scenic views, before returning to the Yacolt Burn aid station. The final section is a descent back down the Bells Mountain trail to the finish at the Moulton Falls Arch Bridge.
Purgatory Trail Marathon The Purgatory Trail Marathon is an out-and-back course on the Bells Mountain trail with approximately 6,000 feet of ascent and descent. It features one main aid station at the Yacolt Burn Trailhead, which runners visit twice (around miles 12 and 14). A final, lightly stocked aid station is located near the Moulton Falls Bridge before the finish.
Logistics Packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race morning at Yacolt Recreation Park. Crew access is permitted only at specified aid stations. Pacers are allowed from the final Yacolt Burn aid station for the descent to the finish. A cut-off time requires runners to leave the final aid station by 4:00 PM. A portion of each registration fee is donated to the Washington Trail Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
