Helgoland-Marathon
The Helgoland-Marathon is an athletic event organized by VfL Fosite Helgoland von 1893 e.V. taking place on the island of Helgoland. The competition features several distances that utilize a circular course of 5.25 km. The start and finish area is located at the Musik-Pavillon by the landing pier at Südstrand.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Marathon: 8 laps of 5.25 km plus a 195 m starting offset.
- 10-Mile Run: 3 laps of 5.25 km plus a 343 m starting offset.
- Mini-Marathon: 1 lap of 5.25 km.
The event follows international competition rules. For the Marathon and 10-Mile Run, the minimum age for participation is 18 years. The Mini-Marathon is open to participants aged 10 and older, with a maximum limit of 250 runners. While walking is permitted, the use of walking poles is prohibited. Wheelchairs, skaters, baby joggers, and dogs are not allowed on the course.
The registration fee includes course and finish line refreshments, with four supply stations available per lap. Runners also receive a T-shirt, a medal, a certificate, and access to an online results list. An after-party with music is held following the races.
