Event overview
The Heart & Sole 5K takes place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Black Creek Park, 749 Yarbrough Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068. The event is the first annual 5K held in memory of a child who died in January 2025 from a congenital heart defect. All proceeds will benefit Dell Children’s Medical Center to support congenital heart defect research and family assistance.

Entry fees listed include $45 for the 5K in-person and the 5K virtual with swag bag, $15 for the basic 5K virtual, and $30 for the Kids 1K. In-person registration for the on-site events closes on February 8, 2026; virtual registration closes on February 7, 2026. Registering by January 5, 2026 guarantees a t-shirt with registration.
Awards are available for chip-timed 5K entrants: top three overall male and female, and top three in age groups (0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+). The Kids 1K receives finisher medals. Virtual participants are not eligible for chip-timed medal awards. The on-site event will include food trucks, music, and activities for all ages.
