Heart & Sole 5K – event overview
The Heart & Sole 5K is the first annual community run held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in memory of a child who died in January 2025 from a congenital heart defect. The event takes place at Black Creek Park, 749 Yarbrough Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068. Proceeds will benefit Dell Children’s Medical Center to support congenital heart defect research and assistance for affected families.

Registration prices listed on the event page include $45 for the in-person 5K and the virtual 5K with swag, $15 for the basic virtual 5K, and $30 for the kids 1K. In-person registration closes on February 8, 2026, and virtual registration closes on February 7, 2026.
On-site features and awards
On-site offerings include food trucks, music, and activities for all ages. Awards for chip-timed 5K runners include top three overall male and female finishers and top three in each age group: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. The kids 1K offers finisher medals. Virtual participants are not eligible for chip-timed medal awards. Registration by January 5, 2026 guarantees a t-shirt with registration.
