Hayden Cog Run : Hayden, Colorado
The Hayden Cog Run takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Hayden Town Park, 229 S 3rd Street, Hayden, CO 81639. The event includes an 8.4 mile race, a 5k and a 1 mile kids fun run and is part of the Steamboat Springs Running Series.
The 8.4 mile course is an out and back along Routt County Road 76 with about three miles of steep uphill followed by about three miles of steep downhill. The turnaround is at the top of the Hayden Cog and the route offers views of the Yampa Valley. The 5k is an out and back on the same general direction, crossing a bridge over the river and turning around roughly half a mile after the road becomes dirt.
One water station is provided on the 8.4 mile course only; the 5k has minimal aid. The event is running a cupless effort and participants are asked to bring their own device for carrying water.
Online registration closes on May 2 at 6 pm, and packet pick up and in person registration take place in the park on race day. Fees vary by event and by registration date. There are no t shirts this year and no refunds.
An awards ceremony follows the races in the park with prizes for first, second and third place males and females. Every participant is entered in a post race prize raffle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
