The Hay'o'Trail Race
The Hay'o'Trail Race takes place on 19 May 2026 at Cockermouth School, Great Britain. The adult course is a multi terrain route of roughly 6 km that climbs to an exposed high point with lake district and Solway views. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.
There is an accompanying junior event with separate shorter routes for different age groups. All junior finishers receive medals and there are prizes for first male and female in each age category; the junior medals are sponsored by Holmen. The event sponsor is Goodfellow Tyres.
Timing for the event is electronic chip timing, with live results provided by the event timing provider. The adult race includes a timed summit section that determines the King and Queen of the Hay for the first people to reach the highest point. Course record times are listed for the adult races: men's 21:05 (2015) and women's 24:55 (2024).
Registration opens 31 January 2026. Limited parking is available at Cockermouth School; alternative roadside parking is available nearby. Participants should select footwear appropriate for multi terrain and variable weather and consider warmer layers for exposed sections. There may be limited entries on the night if the event does not sell out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
