The Hay'o'Trail Race - Cockermouth
The Hay'o'Trail Race is organised by Derwent AC and takes place on 19 May 2026 at Cockermouth School, Great Britain. The event includes an adult trail race and a junior race with age specific distances and awards.
Distances
- Adult Hay'O'Trail: 3 Miles (also described as a 6 km multi terrain hill race)
- Junior Hay'O'Trail: 1 Mile; 1.5 km for U14 and U16, 1 km for U10 and U12
The adult course runs up a hill with an exposed highest point and offers views of the Lake District and Solway. Runners are asked to choose footwear suitable for the terrain and weather; warmer layers may be needed at the exposed summit. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.
The event will be fully chip timed for 2026 and live results will be provided via Timing Up North Results. There is a King and Queen of the Hay recognition for the first people to reach the summit in the adult race; the summit is a timed section for all runners.
Junior finishers receive medals sponsored by Holmen, with prizes for first male and female in each junior age category. There is limited parking at Cockermouth School and alternative parking on nearby roads. Registration closes 17 May 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
