Hartland Memorial Day Run
The Hartland Memorial Day Run is an annual athletic event held in Hartland, Michigan. The event includes options for both runners and walkers, with proceeds benefiting the Hartland High School Athletic Programs. Specifically, the funds generated help the high school football team with the costs of purchasing and maintaining equipment for their players.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5k Run (3.1 miles)
- 3k Walk (1.85 miles)
The event takes place at the football stadium located behind the high school. Both the start and finish lines are situated at the stadium, while parking is available for participants in the front lot of the high school on Dunham Road. The 5k Run is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation with live results available. The 3k Walk is conducted as an untimed fun walk.
Awards are presented to the first overall male and female finishers in the 5k, as well as the first male and female finishers in the masters category for those aged 40 and over. First-place awards are also designated for various age groups ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. No awards are issued for the 3k walking event.
Registered participants receive an event t-shirt, though availability is guaranteed only for those who register by the early deadline in May. For safety reasons, pets, bicycles, scooters, and rollerblades are prohibited on the course. Strollers are permitted, and those using them are asked to begin the event at the back of the starting line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
