Harlon Block 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile
The Harlon Block 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile is a community running event on April 11, 2026 in Weslaco, Texas, at 1020 W. 18th Street. The event honors the life and service of Harlon Block, a United States Marine raised in Weslaco who was among the Marines who raised the American flag atop Mount Suribachi during World War II. A portion of event proceeds will fund the Harlon Block Memorial Statue.

Two discounted entries are listed for military and first responders for the 5K and 10K. The 10K and 5K are chip timed and will award male and female age group prizes for first through third place in the following categories: 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-64, and 65 plus.
Additional event elements described by the organizer include a local vendor market, family friendly activities, and a post-run celebration with live music by River Rock 7. There is a guaranteed event t-shirt deadline of noon on February 27, 2026. Participants must abide by all traffic laws while on course.
