Handcart Days Races
Located in Bountiful, Utah, the Handcart Days Races offer multiple distances through various city surroundings. The event features a half marathon, a 5-kilometer run, and a 1-kilometer run for younger participants. The races take place rain or shine, and the courses are managed without closing roads, requiring participants to remain aware of their surroundings.
Participants have access to various amenities during and after the events:
- Half Marathon - A mostly flat course with 187 feet of gain that passes through Farmington, Centerville, and Bountiful.
- Frontier 5K - A flat course consisting of right-hand turns and one aid station.
- Pioneer Pete 1K - A course circling the South Davis Recreation Center facility, led by a mascot for younger runners.
The Half Marathon includes five miles on the Legacy Trail. To assist with the summer temperature, the race begins early in the morning. Aid stations providing water, first aid, and portable toilets are positioned along the routes.
All registered participants receive a gender-specific technical running shirt, a finisher medal, a custom race bib, and a packet with sponsor samples. Post-race snacks and drinks are provided at the finish area. Awards are presented in various age and weight categories, including Athena and Clydesdale divisions. Parking is available at the recreation center facility and Meadowbrook Elementary. Strollers and leashed pets are permitted, provided they start at the back of the group.
