Hamtramck Health Hike - 5K
The Hamtramck Health Hike is the 17th annual free 5K run/walk taking place on May 16, 2026. The course starts and ends at Zussman Park in front of Hamtramck City Hall, 3401 Evaline Street, Hamtramck, MI 48212. The event is led by the Hamtramck Fire Marshal and is presented by the Hamtramck Drug Free Community Coalition, a program of the Piast Institute.
The event is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels and may be completed as a run, jog, or walk. The 5K will be officially timed and participants can look up their bib number online to view race results and compare times within age groups. The first 400 people to register and attend will receive free giveaways. Activities at the park following the event will include opportunities to learn about healthy, drug-free lifestyles; the event will proceed regardless of weather.
HDFCC was founded in 2007 to address substance abuse issues among Hamtramck youth. Its members work year-round with community leaders on prevention activities addressing alcohol, tobacco, opioids, and marijuana. The event is supported by donations, small grants, and volunteers.
