Hamburg Hustle, Mitchell, GA, September 12, 2026
The Hamburg Hustle is the first annual trail race held at Hamburg State Park. The event is a 5K trail run that begins at the park office and follows a nature trail, then lakeside sections of the red and white trails, with views of the lake and campground. Runners reach an aid station at the halfway point and then loop back toward the park office along muscadine-laced trails.
Race day amenities include coffee, snacks, and fruit at the starting area, with additional water and snacks available at the halfway aid station. Registrations completed before September 1 guarantee a commemorative shirt. Registration opens May 31, 2026.
All registration proceeds go to the volunteer group Friends of Hamburg State Park. There are no age groups; organizers describe the event as a flat out race. The course is wholly on trails with no paved sections; participants should watch for roots, rocks, and wildlife. For vehicle parking, each vehicle must display or attach a valid Georgia State Park Pass; park staff will sell passes at the event parking area for those without an annual pass.
