Half on the Head Half Marathon & 10K Run
The event takes place in Ballyheigue, County Kerry, and features road courses along the Kerryhead Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. Both races start and finish in Ballyheigue village and follow country roads that run by the Shannon Estuary before looping back toward Tralee Bay.
The route offers coastal views, including Mount Brandon and Banna Strand, and finishes beside the gates of Ballyheigue Castle next to Ballyheigue beach. The beach finish gives runners the chance to cool their feet with a paddle in the Atlantic Ocean.
Two race distances are offered:
- Half marathon
- 10 km
Photos and results from previous editions are recorded for participants. The 10 km covers similar coastal sections of the route and provides a shorter option on largely the same roads. The course uses local village start and finish locations to concentrate event facilities and access in Ballyheigue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
