Event Overview

The Gulf Coast Grind takes place in Freeport, Texas, providing a variety of race distances along the shoreline. The event features a course situated at Surfside Beach, where participants run on hard-packed sand adjacent to the water. The race infrastructure includes chip timing for all participants and full aid stations positioned along the route to support runners throughout the day.

Participants can choose from five different distance options, which follow out-and-back formats:

  • 50k: A route consisting of five miles out and back, completed three times.
  • Marathon: A course of 6.55 miles out and back, completed twice.
  • 1/2 Marathon: A single 6.55-mile out-and-back segment.
  • 10K: A single 3.1-mile out-and-back segment.
  • 5K: A single 1.55-mile out-and-back segment.

The event has a total time limit of 12 hours for completion. Packet pickup is available on the morning of the races at the start and finish area located at 3312 County Rd 257.

Registered runners receive a custom medal and a choice of event-related merchandise. The organizers provide volunteer support during the races and offer free race photography to all entrants.
