Event overview
GSSM's 5k Race for Mental Health Awareness is scheduled for February 28, 2026 in Hartsville, South Carolina. The event is a 5K road race hosted at the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, 401 Railroad Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550. The race is organized by FWD, a student organization that promotes healthy, balanced lifestyles and supports mental wellness. Proceeds from the event will benefit Night to Shine Hartsville, a prom experience for people with special needs ages 14 and up.
Course, registration and awards
The course starts and finishes at the Governor's School in Hartsville. The route is stroller and pet friendly; pets are not allowed inside the school building. A course map and schedule are provided by the organizer.
Registration is available online or in person at GSSM. Early bird registration ends January 31, 2026. Regular registration runs from February 1 through race morning. Race shirts are guaranteed for those who register by January 31, 2026; after that date shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Awards include top three male and top three female overall, top racer with a stroller, male and female winners in age groups (10 & under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+), plus awards for largest GSSM team and largest community team.
