GSSM 5K Race for Mental Health Awareness
GSSM's 5K Race for Mental Health Awareness is a community run and walk held at GSSM, 401 Railroad Ave, Hartsville, SC on February 20, 2027. The event highlights the importance of mental health and raises funds for Night to Shine, a prom experience for individuals with special needs ages 14 and up in Hartsville.
The race is organized by FWD, a student organization that promotes healthy, balanced lifestyles and supports mental wellness. FWD aims to build school pride and community through activities that encourage empathy, social connection, and emotional wellbeing.
Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)
Registration details are provided for several periods. Registration opens on September 6, 2026. Early registration fee is $25 through January 24, 2027. Regular registration is $30 from January 25 through race day, and race day registration is available. Children 10 and under register free. Children 13 and under must be accompanied on the course by a registered adult racer.
Race shirts are guaranteed for registrants by January 24, 2027; afterwards shirts are available first come, first served. Shirt sizes include youth small, medium, large and adult small through 2XL.
Results and awards use gun time. Awards include top three overall male and female, top racer with a stroller, first place in each age group, and team awards. This event is part of the Pee Dee Grand Prix. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
