The Growing Minds Foundation 5K
The Growing Minds Foundation 5K is an annual event held in Pocahontas, Arkansas. This edition marks the fourth year of the competition, which functions as a walk and run event. The primary purpose of the gathering is to support the Growing Minds Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical scholarships for children with disabilities and complex medical needs in the Northeastern Arkansas region.
Participants have the following event options:
- 5K
- Virtual Participation
The course starts and concludes at Black River Overlook Park, situated on Rice Street across the highway from First Horizon Bank. Registration for the physical event must be completed in advance, as there is no registration available on the day of the race. Every participant receives a finisher medal, race day swag, and a T-shirt, provided they register before the specified deadline. Dedicated medals are also awarded to overall winners and the top finishers within specific age groups.
Following the main race, the venue hosts the Growing Minds Foundation Fall Festival. This community event includes several activities such as a Splash and Dash fun run, food trucks, live music, and a color blast foam party. Those unable to attend in person can participate through the virtual event category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
