About the race
The Veitscher Skytrail is a multi-race trail running event around the Hohe Veitsch with a long local history. Since 1987 the former Veitscher Grenzstaffellauf was held as a roughly 54 km course along the municipal border of St. Barbara im Mürztal.
From 2026 the event is run by B-TRAIL.Events and expanded with additional race formats. The event area with start and finish is located at the foot of the Hohe Veitsch on the Brunnalm. Race formats and measured data include: - Kids Trail: 500 m to 1500 m - Vertical Race: 3.75 km and 918 m+ - Easy Trail and Nordic Walking: 7.74 km and 453 m+ - Speed Trail: 16.59 km and 1116 m+ - Skyrace: 20.32 km and 1922 m+ - Marathon Trail powered by St. Bernhard: 54 km and 2511 m+ Course features vary by distance: the Vertical Race is a steep uphill to the summit of the Hohe Veitsch, the Speed Trail includes the Teufelssteig and a steep downhill return to the event arena, and the Skyrace includes double summit sections with steep ascents, technical downhills and ridge passages.
The Marathon Trail crosses the Hohe Veitsch and is run as an Austrian championship category. The event schedule lists start number pickup, race briefings and equipment control for relevant distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
