Veitscher Skytrail
The Veitscher Skytrail is a long-standing trail running event in Austria, with a history dating back to 1987. The event is located at the foot of the Hohe Veitsch on the Brunnalm, which serves as the central hub for both the start and finish lines. The course offerings range from short obstacle runs for children to a technical marathon distance.
Participants can choose from several distinct competitions based on distance and elevation gain:
- Kids Trail: Distances between 500m and 1500m featuring obstacles.
- Vertical Race: A steep mountain run covering 3.75 km with 918m of ascent.
- Easy Trail & Nordic Walking: A route of 7.74 km and 453m of elevation.
- Speed Trail: A 16.59 km course with 1116m of ascent, including the Teufelssteig.
- Skyrace: A technical 20.32 km route with 1922m of ascent and ridge climbing.
- Marathon Trail: The classic 54 km distance with 2511m of elevation gain.
The event includes the Austrian Championships for both the Vertical Race and the Marathon Trail. The routes traverse the Hohe Veitsch mountain, offering variety such as steep climbs, technical downhills, and forest trails.
